LinkUS Scores Big Win for Public Transportation
Public transportation is becoming more accessible to Columbus residents than ever before following the historic passing of Issue 47 in the November election [ https://www.wosu.org/politics-government/2024-11-05/linkus-sales-tax-levy-increase-passes?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]. A majority of Franklin County residents voted to pass the levy, which funds the Central Ohio Transit Authority’s (COTA) planned improvements for public transportation. Among these improvements is the LinkUS plan [ https://www.morpc.org/linkus/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ], Columbus’ $8 billion mobility initiative that will fund designated bus lanes, rapid-transit bus corridors, and more in the next 25 years. In addition, the levy funds the development of almost 150 miles of sidewalks and bike trails, cutting greenhouse gas emissions and allowing Columbus community members to reach their destinations more safely and sustainably. Check out an interactive map of LinkUS’s planned trails and sidewalks here [ https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/24e7c14d90984a858b2c4fe8be521c1d/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery#widget_1=active_datasource_id:dataSource_1,center:-9242201.831886116%2C4860198.340458679%2C102100,scale:252050.7174524572,rotation:0,viewpoint:%7B%22rotation%22%3A0%2C%22scale%22%3A252050.7174524572%2C%22targetGeometry%22%3A%7B%22spatialReference%22%3A%7B ].
