Next week is National Volunteer Week (April 20-26), and we’re shining a spotlight on the thousands of dedicated individuals who rolled up their sleeves and made a lasting impact in 2024. From planting trees and clearing trails to mentoring youth and supporting special events, our volunteers are the heart of Columbus Recreation and Parks [ https://columbusrecparks.com/connect/volunteer/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]!

Last year, 17,159 volunteers gave 185,534 hours of service—a tremendous gift to our city and our communities! Here’s a glimpse of the difference you made:


* 1,231 conservation volunteers helped restore natural spaces, contributing 3,452 hours of hands-on care to our parks and green spaces.
* 3,925 community recreation volunteers served 41,301 hours, supporting programs and events that strengthen neighborhoods.
* 1,442 golf volunteers kept the game going strong, contributing 41,559 hours across our courses.

Whether you dug in the dirt, worked at our Mobile Produce Markets or assisted with our Therapeutic Recreation programs, your time and energy helped us create a stronger, more connected and more beautiful Columbus. Thank you for growing with us!

Fall Goals Start Here—Youth Soccer Sign-Ups Open April 22

Get your young athletes ready for a fall filled with kicks, goals and team building! 

Fall youth soccer registration opens April 22 and will remain open until leagues are full or July 25, whichever comes first. Games begin the week of Sept. 6. The fee is $50 per player, $30 with a PLAY scholarship.

Looking to try something new or keep your creative energy flowing? Sign up for session 3 classes at the Priscilla R. Tyson Cultural Arts Center and the Fran Ryan Center!

Cap City Festivals are Back

Join us for an afternoon of FREE fun, food and entertainment—right in your neighborhood! Cap City Festivals [ https://columbusrecparks.com/events/community-events/cap-city-festivals/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] are celebrating over 10 years of bringing resources, games and good vibes to community parks across the city.

The series kicks off on Saturday, April 26, 4-8 p.m. at Adams Community Center and runs through October. Mark your calendars for the festival in your neighborhood!

 Let’s make it a day of unity, joy and great memories!
