Four years after introducing Columbus’ Climate Action Plan [ https://www.columbus.gov/Services/Columbus-Water-Power/About-Columbus-Water-Power/Office-of-Sustainability/Columbus-Climate-Action-Plan?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ], we want your feedback on how the city can improve its climate goals to fit your needs. The City of Columbus, along with community stakeholders and the public, created a Climate Action Plan to ensure environmental justice and serve as a roadmap to meet the city’s goal of being carbon neutral by 2050. To help update our Climate Action Plan, you can fill out this survey [ https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdlvesuLuBUeF1uZXuFVSb-VGeXbo_tC898464NrPyxXA0ftg/viewform?usp=header&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] and help us understand what climate efforts matter most to you. The city remains committed to its ambitious goals, including a 45% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

2025 Mural Graphic

Semi-finalists have been selected and now it’s your turn to help the City of Columbus and FLOW select which design will be brought to life! The theme of these murals is a One Water philosophy through the lens of Columbus Water and Power and the watersheds it serves. One Water is a transformative approach to viewing, valuing and managing water by integrating systems (think tap, steam, storm, aquifers or sewers) to support a sustainable future for the community, environment and economy. Solar Pilot for Low-to-Moderate Income Residents Nears Completion

Increasing clean solar energy is critical to achieving the city’s Climate Action Plan goals. The City partnered with Solar United Neighbors [ https://solarunitedneighbors.org/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] to offer a pilot program for 17 low-to-moderate income households. The pilot is nearing completion, with qualified households receiving four kilowatt solar systems and a backup battery. The program accounts for 30-40% of a household’s energy to help lower energy costs for the city’s most vulnerable residents while helping Columbus meet its Climate Action Plan goals. The City plans to use lessons learned from the pilot to improve and shape future program design.

Help Shape Columbus’ Urban Forest: Comment on the Tree Technical Manual

Tree planting AF 24'

One of the most significant actions recommended in Columbus’ Urban Forestry Master Plan is to improve regulations to protect and preserve trees in Columbus. The city is moving forward to improve these regulations over the past few years, passing a Public Tree Code regulation, which included* **a technical manual* that serves as the rules and regulations for the city’s public trees.

Columbus Recreation and Parks is now updating the Tree Technical Manual. These minor revisions improve definitions, clarify when to use tree tags versus Tree IDs, expand protection options and simplify mitigation guidance. We want your feedback! Click here [ https://www.columbusufmp.org/tree-manual-review.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] to review the revised manual and share your comments by July 31.
