The City of Columbus has been selected by Bloomberg Philanthropies as one of 25 U.S. cities to join Bloomberg American Sustainable Cities [ http://bloomberg.org/AmericanSustatinableCities?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]. This three-year initiative will leverage historic levels of federal funding to implement transformative local solutions that build low-carbon, resilient and economically thriving communities. Columbus Signs Milan Urban Food Policy Pact

The Milan Urban Food Policy Act (MUFFP) is an agreement between cities from across the world to respond to food-related issues at the urban level. MUFFP has created a global network of cities to implement localized sustainable food systems. By signing on to the pact in January, the City of Columbus has committed to provide nutritious food to all of its residents, protect biodiversity, and reduce food waste. Mayor Andrew J. Ginther remarked that joining MUFFP is a “pivotal step toward achieving our Climate Action Plan’s waste reduction goals while supporting the objectives outlined in the Columbus and Franklin County Local Food Action Plan.”
