Winter is a fantastic time to enjoy birdwatching, and our stunning golf courses provide the perfect backdrop to spot unique bird species not commonly seen year-round. Don’t miss out on this relaxing and educational experience!

Get Ready for Youth Flag Football

Calling all young athletes! Registration for youth flag football opens Sunday, Jan. 21, at 12:30 p.m. This exciting program is a great way for kids to stay active, build teamwork skills and enjoy the thrill of the game in a fun and supportive environment.

The cost is $50 per participant or $30 with a PLAY Scholarship (learn more about eligibility [ https://columbusrecparks.com/connect/support/play/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]). The season starts the week of April 7.

Golden Hobby Gift Shop Has a New Home

We’ve moved! The Golden Hobby Gift Shop [ https://columbusrecparks.com/facilities/goldenhobbygiftshop/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] is now located at the beautiful Fran Ryan Center in Olde Towne East at 865 E. Capital St., 43205. Our new space is bigger and better, making it easier for you to browse and discover the unique treasures created by talented Columbus-area seniors. 

For over 50 years, the Golden Hobby Gift Shop has been a beloved senior arts and consignment shop, offering a variety of handcrafted goods, including quilts, ceramics, woodcrafts, paintings and more. Staffed by Columbus Recreation and Parks employees and passionate senior volunteers, the shop has supported over 5,000 members since 1971. Our new location also features a free surface lot for easy parking.

Explore the new space, and find your next favorite piece! Stop by Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Columbus Honors Its Boxing Legends

Get ready to celebrate the legacy of Columbus’s boxing greats at Legends 2025, our annual tribute to the champions who’ve shaped the City’s rich boxing history.

This year, we’re proud to honor Dwight Hughes, Virgil McClendon II and Tony Johnson for their outstanding contributions to the sport and the community. This action-packed event features a Meet-and-Greet with the Legends and exciting amateur boxing bouts.
