Conservation Tip: Stay on the Trail to Protect Spring Wildflowers

Spring is blooming—and so are the wildflowers! From the delicate spring beauty to vibrant Virginia bluebells and bold great white trillium, Columbus’ nature preserves [ https://columbusrecparks.com/facilities/nature-preserves/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] and your local parks [ https://columbusrecparks.com/facilities/parks/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] are full of color and life.

These native wildflowers aren’t just beautiful—they’re essential. They provide an early food source for pollinators and help support our local ecosystems. As you explore your favorite trails, please remember to stay on the designated paths. Walking off-trail can damage fragile wildflower habitats and set back growth by years.

Follow the Leave No Trace principles, and leave wildflowers where they grow. That way, we can all enjoy their beauty—this spring and for many springs to come.

Adult Kickball Leagues Are Back!

Spring means it's kickball season! Columbus Recreation and Parks offers adult leagues for all skill levels throughout spring, summer and fall. Whether you're in it for fun or friendly competition, there’s a league for you!

For a $395 per team league fee, you’ll enjoy a seven-week season, with one game per week and postseason playoffs for qualifying teams. Games take place on Sundays (intermediate and playground leagues at Busch), Monday (intermediate league at Berliner) and Tuesday (advanced and playground leagues at Berliner).

Registration for the spring 2025 season opens on April 4 at 10 a.m. - register by April 18! Schedules will be posted on April 23, and the season begins on April 27.
